Basic Obedience
Developing pack mentality, trust, and respect is the foundation a well-balanced dog needs. I help owners achieve this through Basic Obedience. Training consists of private lessons teaching your pet proper manners in the home and desired behaviors in public. On leash commands include: heel, sit, down, recall, off, out (dog releases an object from it's mouth on command) and walking properly on leash with distractions.
Advanced Obedience
Once a strong basic foundation is in place and on-leash commands have been mastered, focus is now placed on off-leash training. Advanced Obedience training consists of private lessons teaching your pet proper manners and desired behaviors without a leash. Off-leash commands include; heel, sit, down, off, out (dog releases object from it's mouth on command) and recall from a distance with distractions.
Modifying Behavior Issues
Issues pertaining to avoidance behavior (sometimes resulting in flight and/or fear aggression), social aggression (aggressive behavior towards people and animals including dominance and dog aggression) and environmental aggression (dog claims and guards objects such as a food bowl and redirects aggression toward people). These behaviors can escalate into major problems. Proper individualized assessment and training is important for dogs to reach their potential.
Puppy Training
The shaping and development of the natural instincts of your pet into appropriate behaviors. Socialization and neutralization to the environment is essential. Fear periods are common with puppies and young dogs. Addressing these issues at a young age along with motivational obedience will reduce future behavior problems while creating a strong bond between pet and owner throughout the dog’s life.
Dogs are amazing animals each with their own personality, drive, temperament and instincts. All of these are taken into account in each dog’s development and in their individualized training process.
Your dog can be trained in the convenience of your home. Hours are flexible and will be tailored to meet your pet's needs. Once your dog has been successfully trained to respond to commands, the second phase of our training is to transfer your dog's learned skills to the handling of its owner. These sessions are unlimited until the client is comfortable and confident with handling their dog.
Please be mindful that dogs require constant reinforcement of a learned skill so they maintain it. It is absolutely vital for family members to be thoroughly consistent in following through on methods taught once training is complete.
